Add a shop filled with boosters and skins Reuse as much assets from other games in their portfolio Copy the target game as much as possible while adding one new twist Pick a target audience on an existing market and player base that is already heavily invested (financially and with friends) in a game of the competition If they would just focus on game quality instead of trying to make everything a living game they would do so much better. All their franchises are filled with layers of bullshit to drive extra sales or 'engagement'. That is because their games seems to be designed by marketing first and the developers and artists must fill in the gaps. This series will be forgotten faster than Anthem if those launches fail.įortunately, a true successor to Settlers is in the works, and not all hope is lost. Which will likely begin incorporating features that weren't part of their minimal viable product goals. Hopefully those versions aren't buggy as hell because this could still be an profitable venture for Ubisoft. The objective became protecting the console release from any outraged PC players while still getting the console versions out fast enough to cash in. After all of the testing, they ultimately decided to double down on marketing this to new audiences that have never played Settlers but know what AoE is. This isn't a Settlers game intended for series fans although, they thought they could pull in that audience. It's pretty obvious what the developers goals have been. I check here mostly to see what people are thinking since there weren't any reviews.
